Madras is a small town in central Oregon that is home to around 5,000 to 10,000 residents. Madras used to be considered a drive-by town by many but is now a very popular residential area because of how quiet and local it is down here.
Madras formed in the year 1910. It was first to be a comercial district. In 1937, President Roosevelt approved a project that brought irriagtion water to Jefferson County's North Unit Irrigation. Madras was also first used as a US Air base town during WW2. You can see a memorial sign by the Madras Safeway backroad! Madras is also known for its huge diversity compared to other towns and cities in central oregon. For example, when I went to highschool, caucasian people weren't actually a huge majority if a majority at all. Lastly, Madras is home to the Jacoby Ellsbury who played for the Boston Redsox.
